T-Mac is Back!!!! (about time)

The Rockets beat the Suns 94-82. So the Rockets arn't the best team in the NBA like some people project, but they only played  8 games, and have a record of (5-3). This game definately was a big one. After two horrible, and I mean horrible, games by Tracy McGrady, he finally got on track today and scored 27 points, 22 in the second half. But this game also showed McGrady's ability to take over a game in desperate situations. I don't know how often he will do that, but it will be necessary. And the fight was hectic, yeah a fight! Near the end of the 2nd quarter Rockets PG Rafer Alston got in a tussle with Sun's Matt Burnes after, what look like a cheap shot. It was on! Alston pusing Burnes, Nash pushing Alston, T-Mac pushing Nash, and Shaq pushing everyone. Fortunately nothing BIG came of it and Alston and Barnes got ejected. You know during the fight I was trying to find Ron Artest (as we all know his history) and how he was reacting to all this. Fortunately he didn't react. Back to the game, the Rockets with Aaron Brooks, who never stops amazing me, cruised past in the 4th quarter to win the game. I am really exited about Brooks, who might end up being a great player in the future. The Big 3 still haven't found a way to connect, but if T-Mac keeps playing like this, and winning games, they might not have to.

Laker Domination

After coming off a win against the Clippers the Rockets had a terrible showing against the LA Lakers. It just wasn't there. It was close until the 4th quarter, where the Lakers just took control of the game and never looked back. So where was the Big 3? If the Rockets want to be a dominant team in the NBA, then they can't play that bad against anybody. Maybe it will take time for the Big 3 to get confortable with each other, and completely come together. I don't know when that might happen...maybe 15 games, maybe 30, but until that happens, the Rockets can't put up pathetic performances like that. If they continue to show up like they did against the Lackers, then I don't what happens. 

I could be completely wrong about them, and just under-estimating the greatness of the Lakers. Maybe the Lackers are just so good that, they make even good teams, like the Rockets, look bad. Who knows, but lets hope that is not the case. 

You Gotta be Kidding Me!

The Rockets played the Portland Trail Blazers (who I believe are a promising young team) on Thursday. Personally I had a feeling it was going to be a close game, but never thought that it would come down to the wire like that. In overtime, I cound not believe that Yao hit that fadeaway fot the lead with less than a second to go. Right there I was like "OK, good job Yao. Even though you struggled all game, you won the game for Rockets." So the instance I saw Brandon Roy, put up that "prayer" (I guess it wasn't a prayer) 30 footer, I froze instantly. Then I saw the ball "swoosh" through the net and could not believe my eyes. What had happened? How could we have lost? There were a couple problems I saw with that play, like Roy pretty much had an open shot. Where was the coverage? I mean someone put a body on him. I think T-Mac was suppose to cover him, but the defense wasn't there and Roy made the shot. Not really hard to figure out. Hopefully the Rockets can learn their lesson. 

Big 3 vs Big 3

 The Rockets lost last Tuesday to the Boston Celtics. It was a heated match but unfortunately the Rockets wern't able to pull threw. It was the Rockets' Big 3 (McGrady, Artest, Yao) vs the Celtics Big 3 (Pierce, Celtics, Allen) and they just outplayed the Rockets. I wouldn't neccesarily call that a bad loss, we still played good, and come on they we the Celtics, you know defending champs. I liked how T-Mac got involved and had a good game. The Rockets are going to need him to get involved more to win games. I believe T-Mac is the "man" on the team and he will be needed. Yao I thought struggled, but its only one game. It was a good game but now the Rockets must move on. 

The Houston Rockets Review

As the Rockets head into the 2009 season, they have very high expectations. After picking up Ron Artest the Rockets have all the weapons needed for a championship run. The Big 3 of H-Town are Tracy McGrady, Ron Artest, and Yao Ming. McGrady is truely a superstar and will be a big key in this Rockets team if he can stay healthy. Ron Artest has come a long way from his season long suspension in 2004. I believe he is ready to play. Yao is one of the best centers in the game, but he has trouble staying healthy. He will be a dominant force if he can stay healthy. Also we great backups like Shane Batier and Brent Berry, this can truly be the Rockets year, and this blog is dedicated to following there every step to the championship.
